Motorists who fail to wear a seat belt are fined Sh500, while using a mobile phone while driving attracts a Sh2,000 penalty.
Public Service Vehicle (PSV) operators who pick or drop passengers outside authorised stages face a Sh3,000 fine, while passengers boarding or alighting outside designated stops are fined Sh1,000.
Failure to obey traffic signs or lawful directions from a police officer attracts a Sh3,000 fine in each case. Drivers who exceed the speed limit by 6–10 km/h are fined Sh500, while those exceeding by 11–15 km/h pay Sh3,000.
Motorcycle riders or passengers without protective gear are fined Sh1,000. Drivers who fail to carry or produce a driving licence on demand also pay Sh1,000, while driving without the correct licence endorsement attracts a Sh3,000 fine.
